Hello,

I've following the directions, to a T, for importing a qif file from Windows Quicken ('07 Home and Business). From the "Menu/File/Import Data/Quicken QIF file" window, when I browse to pick the exported Quicken file, the QIF files are always greyed out. I have tried both selecting and deselecting the "for Mac" checkbox in the Quicken export dialogue. I have had no problem exporting and importing these same qifs between different Quicken accounts on different computers (Windows and Mac).

Any ideas?

Thank you all in advance!

S. F.

Hello S.F.

Just tried the same thing. Trying to compare QB imports and FirstEdge.

Selecting Import QIF files in the menu and navigating to the folder leads to a greyed out file only....

any pointers would be appreciated!

That still doesn't help. I too am having problems. I am exporting directly from Quicken (2005 version for PC) as a QIF file. FirstEdge doesn't recognize it as a valid file.

I'm having the same problem as well. I've tried changing the name of the file and the extension as well as I can, but there must be something else the file chooser is doing to figure out which files it will take.

Anyone had any luck yet?

There is probably old legacy code in MYOB that is checking the Mac Type & Creator as well as the .qif extension

Try looking at the file with a program like QuickChange
http://www.everydaysoftware.net/quickchange/
Maybe try a change of the creator to INTU
and the file type to WBCN

See this page for more info as it may be the same kind of issue

Unfortunatley, that didn't work for me. I was able to change the file type and creator properly (at least according to the program), but I still can't find the QIF file greyed out. Grrrrrr.
