I recently upgraded to FirstEdge Version 3. I'm trying to print out a standard Year End Profit & Loss report. For some reason I can only view years 2003 & 2004? I cannot print anything from 2007. Any ideas?

Thanks

What is your current fiscal year?
Setup: Company Information:

For many reports you can only see 3yrs - This Year, Last Year, & Next Year. With "this year" being your current fiscal year.

So if you can only see 2003 & 2004 then maybe 2003 is your current fiscal year.

non-accountant here.... I'm having the same issue. Is there a way to change the current fiscal year? I haven't been able to generate current reports and can't find anyway around it. Is there a setting or reset or something I need to do on a yearly basis to advance the current fiscal year setting?

Yes, all you have to do is: Start a New Year, a few times. The critical point that you have to be aware is the program will ask you to back up the file, and normally in a different drive. MYOB is fairly picky in terms of letting you to select the name for the back up (zip)file.

You have to do: Start a new year at least 3 times, and you also can restore the back up files with different names. For example, if your company name is ABC, when you restore your first back up, name it ABC_03, again MYOB has its way of setting up name . . .

It's best that you get the help from an expert since the detail information of the year that you closed is no longer available, and that's why I mentioned that you to restore the back up file for 2003 in a uinque name.

I've just start to get back to MYOB after so many years, my new version of MYOB is coming to me soon, for now, I use my experience with the old versions to answer you, and I hope this would help.

What do you mean by starting a new year 3 times. I have done this for the last 4 years, and my file still lists 2006(the year I updated) as the current fiscal year? Do you mean start a new year 3 times on the same file at the same time?

You have a better deal, you only have to do it once and the current year of your file will become 2007, with the new fiscal year, when you generate comparative statement i.e. income statement, you can have your 2007 Income Statement presented with the 2006 statement, and you can also generate your 2008 Income Statement Y.T.D.(year to date by checking the box next year when you try to generate the Income Statement.

I am having this same problem. I went ahead and did the New Year thing, first for 2006, then 2007, and when I go to my Bank Statement, or Sales, everything stops at March 23rd, 2008. Where is the rest of the year?

This makes no sense. Man I hate accounting software. I did not start a new year last year, yet I was able to run reports just fine.

It's how the MYOB set up. The conversion date and the fiscal year ended date are the 2 areas create great grieves from novice users. That's why I recommended users of MYOB to consult an advisor before doing the closing of the fiscal year business, and it's only takes a few minutes to learn how to.

It's best that you spend some time to learn another software such as Peachtree before going back to learn more on MYOB, after all MYOB is an user frindly, good accounting software.
