Has anyone found a way to create a Automatic backup?
One of my clients I converted from UNIX terminal server and COBOL SQL to Mac Account Edge. There are no Applescript hooks to the menus so that Applescript can do the trick. They want a daily backup but the user that serves the file sometimes leaves early and no one goes over to his computer and backups this computer then shuts it down.
On a Mac... Create an Automator action that is scheduled or an Apple Script or use one of the many programs that can do a scheduled backup i.e. DejaVu (bundled with Toast), Carbon Copy Cloner (free), etc. Just set it to do a backup of wherever the company file is located (Documents, Desktop, MYOB program folder)and save it to a second drive or CD/DVD.
Even if MYOB is open it should still backup just fine. You will get the main company file at least - the only extra things the MYOB "backup all data" process does is gather your customized forms etc and place them in the same stuffed file. For most those don't change very often once customized so it does not matter. Doing a MYOB "backup all data" once in a while will get those often enough.
On my PC I use a really old freebie I got with an Iomega Zip drive (remember those) called Iomega QuikSync that backups any changed files (including an open MYOB books) every 2 hours to a second drive... and I have it keep many revisions. i think they made a Mac version too but it is probably old enough to be only OS9

Wouldn't Time Machine work for this? If you are running Leopard, you can specifically tell Time Machine to backup that particular file, and then you get a copy of it on the hour.
