How about going into the security tab of preferences and setting the- Lock Period: Disallow Entries Prior To: 12/31/9999 Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy in the future so no transactions can be recorded (MYOB does not accept any five digit year dates).  Dan

PS. the Lock Period idea would prevent any transactions from being recorded, but card data (names, address, etc) could be changed. What about just making a copy of the books.myo file and rename it MyDiscardableBooks.myo. Then use that one for your "read only". If changes are made to them it won't matter since you are going to just throw away the "discardable" copy and make a new copy as needed.  Dan
