My company uses MYOB at their office for the accounting side of the business. The management has decided they want the team lead out in the field to be able to make quotes for various jobs based off of information in the database contained in MYOB. I thought the best option, since the field user would be disconnected throughout the day, would be to have a small laptop with the database files synched to it over night. Then the team lead could bring up the MYOB software (separate license) to make the quotes based off the day before's data. Is this a possible solution? Is there better solutions available? I saw the mention of terminal server on the forums, but the team lead will likely be away from any signal that he could use to terminal server into an existing account.
As long as "the day before's data" is current enough for your "team lead" it IS feasible to do it this way. Technically you might need the other license... in practice, since MYOB has gone the route of binding the registration confirmation into the company data files and NOT the program itself... you could probably install it on the laptop and open the copy of the company file without any complaints from the software. The key question may be what is your team lead going to enter and how easily will it be to get that data back into your main "live" data file. i.e. manual entry, export & import, or not needed?
